Cycle Day 19, for me, usually the day that I get that digital happy face on my ovulation prediction kit but not today. I am pretty sure that any of you who are also trying to conceive know exactly what I mean. Clear Blue ovulation kits are brilliant because they give you a very clear indication of if you are ovulating or not. A happy face means an LH surge, it means a reason for baby dancing and hope for the two week wait.
The makers of the kit were smart enough not to actually use a sad face if you aren't ovulating, they just use an empty circle. But it translates into a sad face anyway. I am going to try again tonight.. but i am worried that I am not going to ovulate this month... (although, i think i worry about this every month, I could be just paranoid).
On a happier note, and a reason for a happy face, my father has been discharged from the hospital and is going home. The medication that he is on to prevent metastases has a lot of side effects, he is on for 2 weeks and off for one week to let him recuperate. This past week, his "good week" as he calls it he didn't recover at all and has spent 4 days in hospital... today he has to start the medication again. I hope that they can adjust his medication enough that he isn't hospitalized again by the end of this two week period.
Thank you to everyone who has stopped by from ICLW and who has sent me best wishes for my father. It is so amazing to feel your kindness.
Ugh, I both love and hate OPKs. Clearly love them for telling me what is going on with my body, but hate the daily testing, the wondering, the worry that I missed the window or that it isn't happening... It's all such an emotional roller coaster. I had the opposite problem this time, ovulated suuuper early and missed it in testing completely.
ReplyDeleteHoping you see that smiley face soon! Oh and glad to hear about your father and hope they can adjust his meds to avoid more of the side effects.
I am wondering a bit if i ovulated earlier this month. I noticed CM earlier than normal by a couple of days, but didn't start testing until the same day as normal because I don't want to spend too much on urine targets. Tomorrow I should have some answers... either i get a smiley face of my BBT should start shifting.
DeleteI too was trying to limit testing, as everything else adds up quickly why not try to save there? But since my cycles have gone nutso, I started buying the test strips from Wondfo through Amazon...much cheaper.
DeleteSo happy to hear your father is doing better! What a relief! I hate OPKs. I have PCOS and OPKs and I dont ever see eye to eye. I did use the digital once and was over joyed to see that smile! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your thoughts, yes, I spend the extra money just so i get the validation of the happy face.
DeleteHi from ICLW!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear your father is going to be discharged from the hospital.
I haven't used the digital OPKs, though I've always wanted to try the Clear Blue ones. I didn't know "no ovulation" was an empty circle. Maybe they did it that way so women coule Fill-in-the-Blank on how they feel?
I hope the smiley face comes soon!
Oh...now i'm starting to think about the emoticons and seeing things like :? inside my OPK circle.
DeleteHi from ICLW...I hope you get the smiley face!!! I am using the CBEFM
ReplyDeleteI have looked for the machine for that and never found it in my drugstore. Do you recommend it?
DeleteHi! Here from ICLW/ your comment on my blog... I just wanted to say that I'm sorry your father is unwell, but glad to hear he is having a good week. As is the case with infertility, it's all about taking things one day at a time. Hugs...
ReplyDeleteI always had a love/hate relationship with OPKs... though I always actually thought I would prefer the sad face rather than the empty circle- at least it would reflect how I was actually feeling. Best of luck... I hope that happy face will be here within a day or two!
You are right Catwoman, the empty feeling is the one that comes afterwards... now I will never look at that negative circle the same way.
Deletehi from iclw! Glad to hear your dad is doing better! Hope you see more smiley faces soon :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your wishes!
DeleteI am so happy that your dad is doing better
