Welcome ICLW

Hello to all ICLW'ers.

I have a confession to make.  I some how managed to get pregnant.  Forgive me.

We were waiting for our next appointment and first treatment with our RE when all of a sudden the bunny died.

I assure you, it was completely unexpected.

Apparently it happened in a week while my father was hospitalized and I was over my head in worry.  It happened in a cycle where I didn't see any sign I was ovulating.  It happened in a cycle where we were desperately trying to cram sex in between hospital visits.  It happened in a cycle when we least expected it.  Although for the record it did not happen when we just relaxed.

I did not know I would be pregnant when i signed up for ICLW this time, so I hope you will forgive me.

My background is that my husband and I have been trying for 13 months.  We had a miscarriage in September of last year.  We had seen an RE.  We thought this would never happen.  As a patient with Cushing's who has had 1 of her adrenal glands removed I was supposed to be infertile.  Completely.  We weren't even sure if we would be able to get pregnant with IVF.  There as so few cases of Cushing's women getting pregnant they quite often still make the medical journals.

And then suddenly it happened by accident.

What remains to be seen is if it will stick.

I look forward to reading everyone's blogs this month.  But I understand completely that this might make my blog difficult for some of you to read.  So... my blog has moved from trying to conceive to  hoping to stay pregnant.

  1. Wow congrats on your pregnancy! I also hope it sticks!
I love that you were definitely not relaxing when you conceived. It just gives the finger to all those "just relax" people.
Thanks for your comment on my blog.

  4. It's kind of the natural progression of things- TTC blogs often turn into pregnancy blogs! I'm not a new reader, but still so happy for you! Any updates???

  5. Hi from ICLW. Don't apologize for getting pregnant. I'm really happy for you. But, LMAO, don't call it an accident because then I'm thinking comical like you slipped on a banana peel and fell onto his penis...so don't make me laugh because laughing right now with my flare of adenomyosis hurt. Congratulations! Hope you don't mind if I follow you.

  8. I'm still so happy for you, and while your blog might be difficult for some to read, I also think it will give others hope. I know that pregnancies, *especially* those mythical "just before we did IVF" BFPS, always gave me hope when I was still TTC. Lots and lots of sticky dust heading your way!

  9. The fact that you are concerned with others' reading your blog this week definitely shows your great character, but don't feel bad or apologize! You got the best surprise and I am sooo thrilled for you. And it is inspiring to us.

And I've been sending you sticky baby thoughts, so hope all continues well!

  10. Congratulations, but like Rebecca said, 'Don't call it an accident'.

After TTC for so long, I could never understand how people could 'accidentally' get pregnant. A 24hr window, is such a short time &...

Anyway, no need to apologize either. I've seen so many times where people have announced their BFP during ICLW. I must be a good omen. :)

    1. I didn't actually realized I used the word accident... it was more like unexpectedly because I used OPK's and they showed no ovulation that month. So when my period didn't come and didn't come and didn't come I finally whipped out the other flavour of pee stick. It was the first time I have ever waited until I was actually late before I tested for pregnancy that's how much I didn't expect it to happen.

  14. I appreciate your sensitivity to those of us who are TTC (or, like me, waiting for AF to return post-miscarriage D&C). Good for you, mama! Your win against the odds is a win for everyone everywhere.

So here's hoping you have some ICLW baby dust to go around!

All the best to you and your little pilgrim xo
